What can I try in the technology demo?

Does anything leave my computer?

No. Every scan and every piece of analysis runs on the machine itself. Snitch does not upload files, does not send results anywhere, and does not need an account or an internet connection to scan.

How does Snitch decide something is suspicious?

Images and video go through an AI detection engine that recognises what is actually in the picture, then scores it by how exposed the content is — in three bands: Explicit, Erotic and Possible. Documents and browser history are matched against keyword categories. Every result shows you which of these fired, so you can judge it yourself.

Will it flag innocent photos?

Some, yes — any detector does. That is exactly why nothing is deleted automatically. Results are sorted with the most serious at the top, each one shows why it was flagged, and you mark what is safe. A beach photo will typically land in the lowest band rather than at the top of your list.

What is the difference between Snitch and Snitch Plus?

Snitch covers images, video and browser history on local and attached drives, and deletes what you confirm. Snitch Plus adds documents, archives, renamed-file detection, home network drives, custom keyword lists, scan recovery, and secure shredding that overwrites a file so it cannot be recovered. Can deleted files be recovered afterwards?

With Snitch, yes — a deleted file stops being visible but its contents stay on the disk until that space is reused, so undelete tools can recover it. Snitch Plus overwrites the file first. On an SSD, wear levelling means an overwrite may not reach the original sectors, so we do not claim it is guaranteed on that hardware.

Does Snitch clear my browser history?

No. Snitch reports what it finds in browser history but does not delete it — clearing history properly differs per browser, and in Firefox the history file also holds your bookmarks. Use your browser's own Clear History screen for that.

How does licensing work?

Snitch and Snitch Plus are a one-time purchase with a lifetime licence — either a licence file or a key code. PinPoint Auditor is licensed annually. If you lose a licence we can re-issue it against your purchase email.

Is this parental control software?

No. Parental controls try to block content before it arrives. Snitch looks at what is already on the machine and shows you what is there. They solve different problems, and plenty of people use both.
